Winning prizes in poker tournaments is always thrilling, but what can make it even more fun is an opportunity to get an additional $ reward or even an entry to a bigger event each time you eliminate an opponent from the tournament! We’ve recently introduced Mystery Bounties in phased games and Progressive Knockout tournaments for your gameplay to get even more exciting. Check in the tournament lobby if a particular game awards bounties and their conditions.
What is a Mystery Bounty?
A Mystery Bounty is a random cash reward or an entry to a bigger game that a player receives when they eliminate their opponent in the Final phase of a phased tournament, which adds more dynamism to the game. The prizes can vary up to 20% of the bounty prize pool. The bounty amount is only revealed at the moment of elimination.
You can find Mystery Bounty tournaments in the Main Lobby:
Some of the Mystery Bounties Phase 1 allow you to accumulate all the stacks you may have made throughout multiple Phase 1 games and carry them forward to the Final phase event. You can check it in the tournament lobby:
Once you eliminate a player in the Final phase, you’ll see the following:
1. K.O. (Knockout) symbol on the eliminated player’s pod:
2. Eliminated player’s pod would break/burst, and you'd discover the Mystery Bounty amount:
3. You’ll be able to check the bounty count and prize in the tournament lobby.
How is the Mystery Bounty calculated?
At the beginning of the tournament, the buy-ins collected are equally separated into the bounty pool and the prize pool. The reward amounts are taken from the bounty bank and can vary as they’re a complete lottery and also will be dependent on what proportion of the starting field makes it through to the second phase.
What is a Progressive KO?
In Progressive Knockout (or PKO) tournaments, if you eliminate your opponent, you’ll get a cash reward. However, half of each bounty you’ve earned will be added to your head, which means that the player who eliminates you, will get their own bounty + your bounty.
As an example, in a PKO tournament where the buy-in is set at $20, all participants will commence with a $10 bounty on their heads, while the other $10 contributes to the conventional prize pool. If you eliminate an opponent carrying a $10 bounty, you'll receive $5 as a cash reward, and the remaining $5 will be added to your own bounty making it $15. Should someone then eliminate you, then they would win $7.50 and have $7.50 added to their own bounty.
